21c Museum Hotel

The 21c Museum Hotel Bentonville is a 4-star, 104-room,
100,000 SF boutique hotel, contemporary art museum,
cultural civic center & home to The Hive restaurant
& an iconic collection of colorful penguins. It is located
within a 10-minute drive of Walmart Headquarters &
Crystal Bridges Museum of Modern Art.

Attached to the hotel is a 3-story 110,000 SF post
tensioned concrete structure with the first level of parking
underground & two levels of above ground parking.

Articulated brick volumes house the public programs of the
hotel & form the building’s front. The 4-story guest-room
building is discretely set back from the street for privacy
& quiet. The hotel anchors one end of the woodland
trails connecting to Crystal Bridges Museum of American
Art.

HP Engineering—consultant to architects of record,
Polk Stanley Wilcox, in association with Deborah Berke
Partners—designed all the mechanical, electrical &
plumbing systems.

Complete with a custom ventilation system for the
state-of-the-art kitchen, the hotel’s mechanical equipment
is extremely quiet & features an air-cooled chiller &
boiler with individual room fan-coil units served by
the 4-pipe system. Rooms have an industry-leading
controls system that places the HVAC unit in each room
into occupied mode when a guest checks in at the front
desk. This allows for both maximum energy savings when
a room is unoccupied & maximum comfort when
the room becomes occupied.

Our innovative, energy-saving lighting designs included
museum-quality lighting that is flexible & highly
controllable to illuminate artwork in the lobby & other
exhibition spaces, while maximizing energy savings.
This project was the third development opened by the 21c
Museum Hotels company, in 2013.
